Football is back at ASU, and the Rams are going to kick off the new season unofficially with their spring game on Saturday, April 13 at 2 p.m. There will be a tailgate sponsored by Albertson’s grocery store at noon at the San Angelo Stadium home parking lot in the southwest corner by gate four.

“We only get one meet a year,” track and field head coach James Reid said. “So, we got to make it count.” ASU made it count this past weekend when the Rams and Rambelles mauled the competition to shreds with each gender scoring over 200 team points while no other university scored 160 team points.

The Rams are proving to be one of the most resilient and successful road teams this season after taking the No. 5 nationally ranked St. Mary’s baseball team down at Nelson W. Wolff Stadium in San Antonio on Tuesday. The 21-12 Rams now have a 10-9 home record to an 11-3 road record to make the saying, “there’s no place like home,” an ironic statement.

As ASU’s athletic director Sean Johnson introduced the new women’s basketball coach, he couldn’t help but make a reference to March Madness. “Last week when we hired ASU’s new men’s basketball coach, we said it was ASU’s version of March Madness,” Johnson said.
Track heads to Austin

ASU’s track and field teams plan to continue their hot start on Thursday, March 28, at the Texas Relays in Austin. So far, the men and women have been ranked No. 19 and No. 8 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason rankings earlier in the week.

The first thing that the new men’s basketball coach said at his press conference was that the onething that ASU fans will notice about him is that he has great enthusiasm for the game. For the next 15 minutes, Chris Beard enthusiastically told everyone in the conference room that he was happy to be given this opportunity.
Slumping Rams to face Incarnate Word

The reigning Lone Star Conference champion Rams kicked off their Lone Star Conference schedule at home with four games against Texas A&M-Kingsville University over spring break. The Rams went 1-3 in the series and are looking to end their slump in San Antonio against the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals this weekend.

The ‘Belles’ season has resembled a Richter scale reading with some ups and downs over the past month and a half. The ‘Belles started the season with an 8-1 record on the road and then opened at home where they went 1-4 and were run-ruled in consecutive games.
