In their NCAA record-tying ninth overtime game of the season, the Rams overcame Incarnate Word University 70-67 on Saturday, Feb. 21.

"It was a very good team win," Head Coach Fred Rike said. "Our guys played together and it was good to see other people to step up."

Junior forward LaDonn Huckaby had a double-double for the Rams with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Senior guard Rich Thomas led the Rams with 18 points and seven rebounds.

The win places the Rams at second place in the Lone Star Conference.

Junior forward Aseante Roberts said taking this many games to overtime shows how competitive the team is.

"The scouting report always says certain people aren't good shooters but in the last five seconds of the game, everyone is a good shooter for some reason," Roberts said.

There are multiple ways the Rams can make the playoffs, but Coach Rike said he would like to win out the rest of the season.

"I'm just proud that our guys have kept fighting," Rike said. "We're in a four-way tie for second right now with a chance to make the playoffs."

The Rams play Midwestern State on Feb. 23, which could be the tiebreaker for second place in the LSC. The Rams will finish out the regular season against conference No. 1 Tarleton State on Feb. 26.
