The top-ranked Rams are set to host the St. Edward’s Hilltoppers at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium in San Angelo for a three-game weekend series set to begin Thursday, April 1.

The Rams currently sit at a comfortable 17-3 record and are coming off of a weekend in Kingsville where they took two of three games against the Javelinas. Shortstop Nick Novak and first baseman Aaron Walters both contributed five RBIs in the series win, as junior pitcher Trent Baker collected his 6th win of the season in the opener of the series.

This is not the first time the Rams and the Hilltoppers matched up this season, as they played in a non-conference setting on Tuesday, March 23 with the Blue and Gold winning 12-3 behind the efforts of Novak and sophomore outfielders Thomas Cain and Jackson Hardy, who combined for seven RBIs on the night, as sophomore pitcher Carson Childers collected his third win of the season in relief.

Looking at the Hilltoppers, they sit at a 7-13 record and are coming off of their second series win of the season, as they took two of three from Lubbock Christian at home last weekend. Outfielder Chase Cos is the Hilltoppers best hitter, currently having a .347 batting average with five home runs, 15 RBIs and a 1.054 OPS on the season thus far. Blake Holub is expected to be the starting pitcher on Thursday for the Hilltoppers. Holub is the best pitcher on the staff, as he currently holds a team-best 1.98 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 36.1 innings pitched so far this season.

ASU continues to lead the Lone Star Conference in team batting average, hitting .355 with outfielder Josh Elvir and infielders Jordan Williams and Parker Bramlett all having a great season at the plate. Catcher Nick Seginowich leads the team in RBIs with 28 on the season.

First pitch on Thursday is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday's game will start at 6 p.m. and Saturday's series finale will start at 1 p.m.
