Ram Radio on March 8 held its first out of studio event of the semester in the Houston Harte University Center. Last semester, Ram Radio did not have the option to host any Ram Rush Hour in the University Center due to covid restrictions. A lot of changes have been made this semester production, which opened the opportunity for Ram Radio to host Ram Rush Hour.

The main purpose of Ram Rush Hour is to get feedback from students regarding how they feel about their experience on campus and to also talk about random things in life. Students are given the option to talk about anything, such as current events happening around the world or even personal events.

Luther Harris, senior and talk show host for Ram Radio, hosted the event. One of the questions Harris asked dealt with how some students felt about the email from Angelo State University President Ronnie D. Hawkins regarding how the university is dealing with Gov. Gregg Abbott's decision to lift the mask mandate.

"ASU will continue to require face coverings and social distancing in the classroom and social distancing in the classroom and indoor settings through the remainder of the spring semester," Hawkins said in the email. "For outdoor settings, particularly at ASU athletic events and while walking, face covering is encouraged but not required."

Alex Young and Joshua Troll, both freshmen, shared their positive opinions regarding the email from the president.

"I think it's great we're getting past it and I think the mask policy is great on how they are enforcing it," Young said.

"I think it is pretty cool we don't have to wear a mask everywhere," Troll said.

Other than asking students how they feel about Hawkins's email, Harris also talked to a student about his personal feelings about ASU.

"I really love this university," David Seymour, a junior, said. "I like the energy. I think it matches me as a person. I love the more interpersonal relationships with students and faculty. I just appreciate the welcoming energy that Angelo State University is."

Ram Rush Hour is usually held on Mondays and Fridays in the Houston Harte University Center at 1-2 p.m. Ram Radio said that students who want to have an opportunity to talk about events, personal life or their general campus experience at ASU should stop by to let their voices be heard.
