A letter from President Hawkins
Greetings Ram Family!
Today marks my 106th day as President of Angelo State University. Believe me when I say that this place is truly remarkable- -this has been the most exhilarating and time-consuming period of my life since I took off the uniform some 5 years ago!
ASU has reached many milestones this year, including another record-breaking enrollment of over 10,700 students this fall. We have added academic programs, awarded over $8 million in scholarships, and met the immediate needs of our students through the Ram Pantry and emergency financial aid.
Best of all, ASU has graduated 1,800 Rams in 2020, while navigating a global pandemic! Kudos to our staff, faculty, and administrators for making it all happen this year.
Our motto, Fiat Lux, means let there be light. There is certainly no shortage of light at ASU. I have had the privilege to witness that through the challenges and triumphs. The light of the Ram Family grows brighter with every success.
Today, on Giving Tuesday, we will celebrate our motto and illuminate Angelo State even more. With you, we will carry out the annual Tree Lighting tradition, albeit virtually, and also kick off the season of giving. During Giving Tuesday, you choose where your gift makes an impact - from academics, to scholarships, to sports - you will change lives at ASU. We truly hope you consider the Ram Family in your end-of-year giving plans.
Maria and I greatly appreciate your support and for giving us such a warm welcome for the past 106 days. You should be proud of the light you shine as the Ram Family and for recognizing the impact higher education has with our students and society. Again, many thanks.
Best wishes, Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays,
Ronnie and Maria Hawkins
