The Ram Band on Nov. 13 has announced that they will be canceling all bands for the remainder of the semester due to the spike of COVID-19 cases in San Angelo and at ASU.

“This decision has not been taken lightly, but with the recent surge of cases in San Angelo and at ASU, I feel it is in your best interests to not take any unnecessary risks with your health,” Dr. Jonathan Alvis, the director of bands, said in an email to his students.

“I understand why the decision was made,” said sophomore Bailey Wells. “[the band directors] are taking every precaution to make things as safe as possible, but I really would’ve liked to have finished the semester with the recording.”

As of now, the status of the spring semester for the bands is very unclear. This decision followed a separate decision made Wednesday by Dr. Javier Flores, vice president of student affairs and enrollment management, to postpone and cancel all student organization and greek life events for the rest of the semester.
