The Beginning

When you watch a sporting event, what is usually the first thing you notice? Some would say the score. Others would say the players on the playing surface, some would even look at it and go, “what sport is that?” Well for myself, being the analytical guy, I am, I have already studied all the stats and players that are in the game prior. So, the first thing I notice is the uniforms!

From the jerseys of football to the sweaters of hockey, I have loved the colors, the designs, and the flair of what even the simplest of uniforms can offer. I have enjoyed seeing the different brands and the uniqueness that each company has come to the table with. Just like the games they represent, the uniform has evolved tremendously to what it has become today, and in case you have not caught the drift yet, that’s what this column will be about!

Until I cannot write anymore, I will be going in-depth with our favorite team’s current uniform sets! Breaking it down into 4 parts, I will start at the highest professional level (NFL, MLB, etc.) and once all those teams are done, we will go into the college level! In the first part, which we’ll call “The Present” I will be analyzing the color and designs all the way to the tiniest details of our teams’ current uniform sets. The home, away, and alternate uniforms, giving my upfront, and honest opinion along the way and maybe we find an Easter egg or two.

In part two, which we’ll call, “The Past” I will then go into the past where I will pull out my favorite uniform of the team’s past. Which, for some of our older readers it may bring back some memories, wanted or unwanted.

In part three, “The Future?” I will give my opinion on how the current uniform set should potentially change in the future, and as much as it’ll not be taken any sort of serious, I still want to give some sort of feedback as for the most part as I believe every team can change one or two things about their uniform.

Finally, in part four, which we will simply call, “The Conclusion” I will give my final thoughts on the uniform and drop a hint as to what the next week’s team will be.

I hope you are as excited as I am for this column! Which reminds me…

Your hint for next week’s column is the following: When it is gone, you will hear the orchestra start to play.
