Many of the surrounding blocks around ASU on April 23 lost electrical power.

According to the AEP Texas website, approximately 8,800 meters across town abruptly shut off around 1 p.m.

Residents at ASU, San Angelo Community Medical Center and the better half of College Hills reported outages to AEP.

“It was so random,” sophomore Anthony Gutierrez said. “I was playing my game while streaming when everything just went dark.”

Gutierrez said him and the other residents of Plaza Verde saw power return to their dorms fairly quickly.

Workers from AEP Texas were reportedly seen at the corner of Gunter Street and Old Knickerbocker Road operating on devices, followed by the swift return of power to ASU and nearby areas.
