Christopher M. Huckabee, chairman of the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents, announced in a mass email on April 11 that ASU President Dr. Brian J. May has resigned.

“Last night, the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents and Chancellor Tedd Mitchell, M.D., received and accepted the resignation of Dr. Brian May,” Huckabee said in the email. “We wish Brian and his family well.”

May, who previously served as provost and vice president for academic affairs, was appointed to the position of president on Nov. 7, 2012 and oversaw many expansions and changes in his tenure.

According to a press release, Angie Wright, vice president of finance administration, will act as interim president for the time being.

Wright, an ASU Sigma Kappa alumna and the first woman to hold this position in ASU history, has been a member of the ASU community for nearly four decades. According to the email, Wright came to ASU as a student in 1981 and returned to work for the university in 1991.

In the mass email, the Board of Regents said they will release information regarding a presidential search process in the coming weeks.
