Academic HealthPlans, the provider of ASU’s student insurance, announced on March 30 they would waive the cost of many COVID-19-related resources to all ASU students.

AHP joins CVS Pharmacy, Aetna and other healthcare companies available in San Angelo accommodating people during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to their website, AHP is partnering with Aetna to offer Teladoc counseling services, a 24/7 wellness and prevention service, for free. The app allows students to speak to U.S. board-certified internists, family doctors, pediatricians, psychiatrists and therapists at any time for personal evaluations wherever they might be.

While these services will be included in tuition, a source from AHP clarified their role in the partnership.

“Unfortunately, there has been some miscommunication regarding what resources we provide since we service universities, airlines and other institutions,” the source said. “We do not provide video counseling, but we do assist with crisis intervention and locating local resources for patients in need of more direct care.”

In a mass email sent by the Office of Communications and Marketing, the department said if the ASU community wants to take advantage of the services mentioned, they could call 855-850-4301 and identify themselves as an ASU student or as a member of AHP. They can also go online to myahpcare.personaladvantage.com and use the code “AHP1.”

Aetna and its parent company CVS Health said they would waive their existing members’ co-pays for all diagnostic testing related to COVID-19 and waive all charges for home delivery of prescription medications.

According to the CVS website, prescriptions can be ordered and delivered within one to two days. To place an order, CVS recommends downloading the CVS app and finding a pharmacy within 50 miles.

All of these amenities will be available for the foreseeable future of the pandemic.
