The University Center Program Council is hosting the third annual Drag Rave featuring Morgan McMichaels on Thursday, April 26, in the CJ Davidson Conference Center.

The doors will open at 6:30, and the first 100 students to arrive will receive a free drag rave t-shirt.

“After the show, there will be a chance for students to meet all of the performers and get autographs and pictures if they want to,” Nick Ellis, UCPC Art & Film committee chairperson, said.

Morgan McMichaels is hosting the show this year, and Kristi Waters is co-hosting.

“Morgan McMichaels competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race, so people are excited to have the chance to meet her,” Ellis said.

Other performers include Aruba Waters, Divinity Rose, Krystal Mirage, Natasha Bednfeel, Morphia Riot, Tatum Unique and some surprise student performers.

“This is my third year being in charge of this event, and in years past students have really enjoyed the show, and I am hoping that they enjoy it just as much as always,” Ellis said.

Kiana Hollins, the UCPC president, said the drag rave is normally the largest event UCPC puts on in the spring semester; they expect nearly 300 students in attendance.

“The drag rave is not only fun, but the show is educational too. The program we give out has information on the history of drag, and students actually have a chance to learn from it,” Hollins said.

Hollins said this event is one of the few that is not open to the San Angelo community; UCPC had problems in the past with community members causing trouble.

“Students need to be sure they bring their OneCard because if they do not bring it they will not be allowed to enter the event. I would hate for someone to miss out because they forget their OneCard,” Hollins said.

This year, UCPC, Kappa Delta Rho, Rams Plus, Delta Zeta, Sigma Kappa and Open Arms helped put together the drag show.

The drag show helps raise awareness of the culture behind drag and gives students a better understanding of the people behind the makeup.
