Lambda Chi hosted their annual dog show to benefit Concho Valley Paws Friday, Oct. 20.

"What we’re doing is we partner with Concho Valley Paws, having this dog show and people can enter their dogs in the show and what not and we have prizes courtesy of PetSmart. After the dog show we have an adoption event," Adam Husband, president of the fraternity, said.

The show included three contests that night- cutest dog, best trick, and best in show. They also had a selfie contest on Instagram prior to the actual event.

Landri Vasut of the Sigma Kappa Sorority entered her dog Riplee, a miniature golden doodle.

"I just think it’s a fun way to get every together on campus," Vasut said. "Everyone loves their dog."

Megean Steffek, owner of Mallie, a miniature Australian Shepherd also entered the dog show.

"I entered because I have some of my friends in Lambda Chi," Steffek said. "I came last year and saw the money was donated to Paws, and I’m a dog lover."

A variety of other breeds were present, including a chocolate lab, a great dane and mastiff mix, and a miniature long haired dauschund.

Over 24 dogs were entered into the contest, and Lambda Chi was able to donate over $250 to Concho Valley Paws.

Some of the dogs shown by members of the fraternity were actually dogs from Paws that were up for adoption.

The winners of the Cutest Dog category were Bexler- a pitbull mix, in third place, Riplee- a miniature goldendoodle, in second, and Blush- an Australian Shepherd puppy, in first.

Dez- a pitbull mix won third in the Best Trick category, Mallie- a miniature Australian Shepherd, won second, and Riplee took first.

The first place winner of the Best in Show Category was Mallie, with Bexler coming in second and Kiwi, a French bulldog placing third.

Blush’s owner, Claire Parker, won the selfie contest held earlier in the week with her dog, Blush.
