"I realized that there wasn’t a frisbee club here, so I thought let’s start it," Michael Abarca, club president, said.

Ultimate frisbee gives non-athletes another chance to be part of a sport, Albarca said.

The rules of the game are simple, and it is easy to begin playing.

"Ultimate frisbee is a fun and easy to learn sport with a welcoming and social community that everyone is welcome to be a part of," Abarca said.

A regulation ultimate frisbee field is 70 yards by 40 yards with 25-yard-deep end zones.

Play is initiated with teams lining up against their respective end zones.

The defensive team then throws the frisbee to the offense, similar to a kickoff in football.

There is no physical contact in ultimate frisbee, otherwise a foul is called.

Players are responsible for calling fouls and scores.

Ultimate frisbee stresses the sportsmanship and fair play of all participants.

Students interested are encouraged to come to practices.

"You don’t have to sign up, you just have to come out and play," club secretary Hali Johns said.

The club plays on Sundays at 4 p.m. on the intramural fields and Wednesdays at 4 p.m. on the campus green. Students can text "@MichaelU" to 325-200-0639 for remind information.
