ASU will once again provide students with a chance to earn credit hours while traveling the world through its study abroad programs.
“It was the best experience I’ve ever had, and I recommend everyone to study abroad,” Senior Emily Franchuk said.
Franchuk participated in the Summer 2017 study abroad and learned about international business on the France, Germany and Amsterdam trip.
The knowledge she took away from the experience wasn’t just limited to her field of study. Studying abroad provided insight about her own life and the lives of people in other countries.
“I feel that now I can travel anywhere I want to and all on my own,” Franchuk said. “I feel more independent than ever. On top of that, learning the differences of the cultures first hand is an experience you just can’t grasp in a classroom.”
Alyssa Sepeda, senior, looks forward to going on the “Most Europe” trip. The tour will include locations in England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Poland and Spain.
“I’ve always wanted to travel,” Sepeda said. “I’m very interested in different cultures and trying new things.”
The cost of studying abroad can discourage some students from applying. The average program cost is around $5,000 for each trip, plus the cost of tuition and spending money.
“Saving for the trip is sometimes a challenge, because it is one of the more expensive trips. I really have to balance work and school to make it work,” said Sepeda.
Students enrolled in study abroad are eligible for scholarships such as the International Studies Scholarship, the Boren Awards for International Study and the Gilman International Scholarship.
Students sign up through their RamPort and complete the Study Abroad. Afterwards the student will be contacted by the program director.
Students can also contact the Center for International Studies for more information.
