ASU has created a student relief project for students affected by Hurricane Harvey that offers assistance and other resources.

"Multiple individuals and multiple departments came together for a common goal," Clint Havins, director of student life, said.

Many university offices, such as Housing and Residential Programs and Financial Aid, collaborated to create the project.

"It just shows that ASU really appreciates and cares about the students that have been affected, and shows that they also care about what has happened over there," Agustin Aroz, junior, said.

The project was not created nor coordinated by a single individual or one department but a cross-section of departments, staff and faculty.

ASU also plans to have monthly drives to collect different items, September featured fundraising and blood drives.

There will be a canned food drive in October, a cleaning supplies drive in November and a clothes drive in December.

A scholarship was also created to aid students through the relief project.

Anyone interested in donating have the option online or in the Office of Development, Kimberly Adams, director of development and alumni services, said.

The student relief webpage offers assistance with counseling, housing and financial aid among others.

It is important that ASU takes care of everyone in the Ram Family when help is needed, Havins said.
