Thanks to the university’s official mobile app, the lives of ASU students and faculty have been made easier.

Although the app has been in existence for a few years, its latest version offers better functionality and features.

Jon Wilcox, Senior Web and User Experience Developer, said, "The biggest feature that is being used is My Classes, which lists classes they’re registered for. It can list their assignments, their grades, give the list of people in the class and their teacher, classifications—everything to do with their class schedule."

Wilcox also described the Pay Bill feature, which allows students to view how much tuition they still owe

Using the Registration feature, students can also add and drop classes, as well as other tasks typically done through Ramport.

"I’ve found it useful just finding out schedules." Jenna Placzek, senior, said. "It’s a lot easier than having to go online to look it up. It’s faster."

The new update for the app has a role system which personalizes the app’s abilities depending on the user. For example, if a faculty member is using the app and they choose the faculty setting, then the app’s features would be tailored to what a faculty member would use.

"One of the features as far as flexibility and personalization is, we’ve got roles available now," Elaine Beach, Director of Customer Support and Multimedia Services, said, "So now, we can tailor it to a student role, meaning that we can give just what a student needs, and it’s just a lot more personalized that way. Things that don’t apply to the student wouldn’t be in the student role."

The app allows services like Ramport, email, and Blackboard to be more conveniently accessed.

"I think it’s a quicker way to use it other than trying to log into Ram Port, wait for that to load, log in to Blackboard, and wait for that to load," Beach said.

The app has other features as well for Financial Aid, Blackboard, Campus Map, ASU One Card, Housing, Athletics, and an interactive map for Disc Golf, which shows players where the goals are located.

The app is available for download on iTunes and in the Google Play store.
