Not a typical summer home

I was able to go home to South Africa for the summer, and it was so refreshing.

My parents are missionaries, and they and my brother have lived in South Africa for eight years now. I lived in South Africa for six years, and I’ve been back in San Angelo for two years.

South Africa has become my second home.

It was winter there, so I had a cold summer, which I was quite happy about. I love the cold.

I loved being home with my family, and my dogs! I was able to catch up with my friends that I hadn’t seen in a year and a half. It was such a sweet time.

I also went into Mozambique to do ministry work with my family and other missionaries. My parents are a part of a mission organization that brings in teams from America for two weeks at a time to do mission work in rural Mozambique.

I helped set up camp, which includes tents, showers, toilets, a water system, and a kitchen.

I was also able to be a part of hosting the teams and joining them on their everyday ministry.

My favorite about being in the bush (AKA Mozambique) was taking pictures of the people.

It is so humbling to watch the people’s faces when they see a picture of themselves. Most of them don’t have access to a mirror like we do here.

When they look at their picture, their face lights up with a huge smile. You can hear the laughter and excitement from a mile away.

This summer was a great summer for me. It was a winter summer home in South Africa and Mozambique.
