Nothing brings in football season like the smell of grilled hotdogs and burgers in the air capped off by a weekend long road trip to an opposing team's town.
With the Rams first game of the season at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30 against Texas State, the university will be hosting a tailgate party in the visiting parking lot of Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos.
Festivities will begin at 4 p.m. and will continue for two hours prior to the start of the match. The event is free to alumni, students, and all supporters of Ram football.
The site will be marked off with blue flags with the Angelo State logo on them on the west side of the stadium on Robbie lane. The stadium is located at 700 Aquarena Drive.
General admission for the season opener is $13 for adults and $11 for those 18 or younger.
Other pre-game festivities will include a guest appearance by country music artist Reckless Kelly.
The two opponents will take the field for the 23rd time with Texas State holding a series lead of 17-5 over the Rams. Texas State is a Football Championship Subdivision team (formally known as Division 1-AA) with the Rams being a Division II participant.
