SGA to use online polls for voting

ASU students will have a chance to vote April 7-8 about a proposed raise in University Center fees, their Senators for the next year and professor of the year during the Student Government Association elections. On April 7, students will receive an e-mail on their Ramport account including a link to the official ballot.
Committee finalizes parking proposal

The Parking Committee finalized its proposal during its March 27 and 30 meetings for President Joseph C. Rallo's consideration. The committee made considerable changes to the proposed plan including the exclusion of the heavily debated campus shuttle system.
ASU drops out of Harvard House

Students living or wishing to live in Harvard House this Fall will have to search for alternative housing, according to director of Residential Life Connie Frazier. Current residents will be able to finish out this semester at the complex; however, students planning to stay throughout the summer will have to move elsewhere before July 1, Frazier said.
ASU seeks closure of Dena Drive after preemptive survey

To move forward with plans to demolish University Hall and build a new residence hall in its place, ASU has asked the city to close a portion of Dena Drive. After experience with the Rosemont Drive closure, President Joseph C. Rallo requested a preemptive survey for Facilities, Planning and Construction to ensure ASU owns the land before construction begins.
Colleges lose colors, eliminate tassel hassles

Commencement ceremonies will have a slightly different look during the December 2009 graduation exercises as the Student Government Association voted March 23 to change the colors of graduation tassels for undergraduates. Registrar's Office Registration Assistant Polyxena Riddle suggested the change and explained that a lot of students were either buying the wrong color, were unaware of the color of their college or were not aware which college they belonged to.

St. Patrick's Day is long gone and it's time to trade in the lucky shamrocks and pots of gold (which must be imaginary with our economy these days) and stuff baskets with shiny shreds of "grass" and plastic eggs that ooze with melting chocolate from the blazing Texas sun.
Nationwide effort brings passport fair to campus

ASU's Passport Office hosted a Passport Fair March 28 in a nationwide effort by the Department of State urging U.S. citizens to obtain their passports. "The Department of State wants everyone in the United States, its citizens, to get passports," said Meghan Pace, the International Student Services Counselor.
English prof. recognized
By
Dr. Chris Ellery, a professor in ASU's English department, says that what he most wants to teach students is the value of language and how to use it effectively. Ellery, who considers himself a teacher first, will be inducted April 18 into the Texas Institute of Letters, an organization that recognizes literary accomplishments among Texas writers.
