Track records fall; athletes soar

Freshman phenom Sandy James began playing softball at the age of seven in her hometown of Kilgore, Texas. By the age of nine she had surpassed the competition in her community leagues and looked for more of a challenge playing on traveling club teams. Even throughout high school, where she received All-State, All-East Texas and All-District honors, James played "travel ball" every summer and fall.

Junior designated hitter Keith Towne was selected the Diamond LSC Co-Hitter of the Week for his performance during last week's road trip. Against Eastern New Mexico, Towne hit three home runs bringing his season total to 14, surpassing former Rams Matt Lenderman and Clay Calfee for the single season record.
