Mr. Jefferson,

First let me say that I was involved in the planning of this event. I understand your viewpoint and your opinion, what I don't understand is your anger and your accusation of apathy.

I can tell you that the idea to show this film was born out of genuine passion and hope. The students and faculty who planned the event had a completely different idea of how the evening would go. In the begining, we had intended for a panel discussion and questions from the audience. Unfortunately , circumstances beyond our control changed the dynamics of the situation. You couldn't possibly know what went on behind the scenes, or how much of ourselves we gave to this project, nor can I hash that out here. What I can say is that had we been apathetic, WE WOULD HAVE DONE NOTHING. Instead, in the face of cancellations, unfounded fears, and last minute pleas to not show the film, we pressed on. We did the best we could with what we had.

I am disappointed in your personal attacks of my classmates, faculty, and university. Know that we are anything but apathetic, and that your disappointment with the evening will never match our own.
